    Impressive Greenville Cantina 76 Brunch

    March 27, 2019

Columbia, South Carolina based Cantina 76 has grown to five locations state wide in just ten short years.  Founded by four college friends, the inspiring, elevated Mexican menu, accompanied by fresh craft cocktails has proven to be a delicious combination for diners. Recently, I had the pleasure of trying their new brunch menu:, which is served every Sunday, 11:00 am – 2:00 p.m. The brunch menu is full of classic dishes with a Mexican spin created by Executive Chef, David Grillo. Tasty libations are also served during brunch, like the honeysuckle mimosa, peach mimosa and bloody Mary. Cantina 76’s Brunch Menu Plenty of delectable choices abound the brunch menu.  Typically, I…

Greenville, South Carolina has been ranked as one the fastest growing culinary destinations in the United States, but what about all the great libations and mixologist working at the many restaurants in the area?  These masters of mixology are creating some of the best cocktails and I am going to tell you about five of my favorites. Cheddar Cheese is the Perfect Ingredient

    December 12, 2018

Cheddar cheese is one of the most popular types of cheeses of all time and it is absolutely my favorite. Did you know, the orange color of cheese dates back to the 16th century England when cheesemakers would pass off a lower quality of cheese by adding saffron, then eventually, ANNATTO. In former times, only affluent Cheddar lovers could afford the expensive full-cream cheeses with its creamy-yellow color. By adding the coloring agent, cheesemakers could take low-fat cheese and sell it as full-fat cheese.  It is the fat that gives the color to the cheese. ANNATTO is derived from the seeds of the Achiote tree, which is native to tropical…

    Buying, Caring, and Storing Knives

    December 5, 2018

As home cooks, our knives are one of the most valuable, instrumental tools in our kitchens.  Buying a cheap set of knives, encased in plastic, which ironically, you would need a knife to open, is just a waste of money.  Knives are the one tool where you get what you pay for.  Invest in  good quality knives, which have durability sharpness and an excellent reputation.  BUYING KNIVES Buying a knife should be very personal.  Brands and designs vary tremendously.  Some cooks like heavy knives, I actually do not, as I do not have a strong grip. Knives can weigh as much as 10-ounces, some as little as 6-ounces. Weight can…
