Kool Local Bar at Dive N Boar

    September 2, 2016

This restaurant has closed since this post was published. Located in the Cherrydale community of Greenville, sits an inconspicuous joint called the Dive-N-Boar.  Sitting in a strip center, off a busy Hwy 291, you would not suspect that great things happen inside this place, like good food and great music!  Locals probably realize the appeal with Happy Hour from 4 pm – 7 pm with drink specials and $5.00 appetizers, this place is a great location to meet friends and unwind. Friday and Saturday nights are JAM NIGHT with local musicians belting out their tunes and entertaining a full dining crowd. Although currently undergoing a massive kitchen renovation, the vibe…

    Sizzling Steaks at Appalachian Grill

    August 26, 2016

This photo of Appalachian Grill is courtesy of TripAdvisor Appalachian Grill in Cartersville, Georgia Located just 30 minutes northeast of Dallas, Cartersville can lay claim to one of the most quaint, romantic steak house restaurants in this area. The Appalachian Grill offers all standard cuts of beef (rib-eye, strip, filet, and sirloin) prepared in their own special way, with signature flavor and spices. Also on the menu are various fish and pasta entrees, with a small kids menu available. However, the steaks are what most patrons come for. The rustic, mountainous charm presented in this small, cozy restaurant nestled in downtown Cartersville is an unsuspecting delight in suburbia. The lighting…

Whistle Stop Cafe in Travelers Rest

    August 19, 2016

The Whistle Stop Cafe in Travelers Rest, South Carolina was originally built in 1932 and billed as The American Cafe.  Renovated in 2013, the restaurant is now known as The Whistle Stop American Cafe and is one of the most popular restaurants in Travelers Rest.  Adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, the restaurant offers lunch, dinner, cocktails and ice cream treats.  With its unusual, but signature, locomotive, paying homage to the Greenville & Northern Railway, the restaurant has always been family owned and operated. History of The Whistle Stop According to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania: “A whistle stop is a small railway station between the main stations or a…

    Discover Supermarket Strategies

    August 9, 2016

The Psychology Behind a Grocery Store Discovering The Fresh Market When I moved to Greenville, South Carolina, I had no idea I would be giving up my Kroger rewards card.  Not one Kroger grocery store in the Upstate.  However, I have discovered The Fresh Market.  Similar to a Whole Foods, but much smaller in scale, The Fresh Market focus’ on natural or organic food products.  Not to say, everything is healthy in The Fresh Market, the bakery with fresh bread and an entire dessert case, I enjoy looking at all the fresh produce and “feeling” like I am eating more healthy. Entering the Grocery Store When you enter The Fresh…

    Using a Camper Microwave-Convection Oven

    August 4, 2016

What is a microwave-convection oven Installed frequently in recreational vehicles, it is a combination of a regular convection oven with a microwave.  Users are able to use the quick interior cooking of microwaves combined with the surface browning of hot air.  Convection cooking allows for the interior cooking of a traditional oven, just hotter and faster. Convection oven technology uses a fan to force air movement and heat up the full interior of the microwave to cook food from the inside out. That’s why you can use convection microwaves to bake and roast things that would otherwise be cooked too quickly (and not thoroughly) with just a regular microwave.  The…
